Charter our 73-foot Azimut 72S bareboat — complete control, full legal compliance, by Jativa Holdings

What is a Bareboat Charter?

A Different Kind of Boating Experience

We offer a bareboat charter (also known as a demise charter) of our Azimut 72S — a legal arrangement where YOU become the temporary owner and operator of the vessel.

This is not a passenger-for-hire service. You are chartering our Azimut 72S without crew, exactly as maritime law defines a legitimate bareboat charter.

Here's what makes us different:

You are in complete control of the Azimut 72S during your charter period

You select and hire your own captain and crew (if desired) through separate arrangements

You are responsible for navigation, operation, fuel, provisions, and the safe return of the vessel

We do not provide crew, captain, or operate the vessel — the Azimut 72S is your yacht during the charter period

Comprehensive Bareboat Charter FAQ

Everything you need to know about chartering the Azimut 72S

Understanding Bareboat Charter

A bareboat charter (also called a demise charter) is a legal arrangement where you charter the Azimut 72S WITHOUT crew. You become the temporary owner and operator of the vessel for the charter period. You're responsible for selecting and hiring your own captain and crew, providing fuel and provisions, and safely operating the vessel. This is completely different from a typical charter where the company provides the boat, captain, and crew.

Our Azimut 72S is not USCG licensed for commercial passenger operations. Under U.S. Coast Guard regulations, operating a yacht with crew provided by the owner as a passenger-for-hire service requires commercial licensing, regular inspections, and other regulatory compliance. Bareboat charters are specifically exempted from these requirements because YOU (the charterer) are operating the vessel as the temporary owner, not as a passenger.

Yes, absolutely! Bareboat charters are a well-established legal framework under U.S. maritime law and are regulated by the U.S. Coast Guard Seventh District (which oversees Florida waters). As long as we comply with specific requirements—written contract, complete transfer of control to you, you select your own crew, maximum 12 persons aboard—this is a completely legal and legitimate way to charter a yacht.

No. While a bareboat charter means you're not provided a captain, Florida law and safe boating practices require that a vessel of this size be operated by someone with appropriate credentials and experience. You must hire a qualified captain—but you get to choose who.

Cost & What's Included

Contact us for current daily rates. What's INCLUDED: Use of the Azimut 72S and all equipment aboard, hull and P&I insurance maintained by owner, pre-charter orientation and vessel briefing, pre-charter and post-charter inspections, fuel in tanks at delivery. What's NOT included (your responsibility): Captain and crew fees (typically $400-800/day for captain), fuel consumed during charter (typically $200-500/day), food and beverages, dockage fees, your charterer's insurance, gratuity for captain/crew (customary 15-20%).

We require a refundable security deposit (typically $5,000-10,000) to cover potential damages, late return, excess cleaning, or other issues. This is returned within 7-14 days after your charter if the boat is returned in good condition.

Yes! We offer discounted rates for charters of 3+ days, weekly charters, and frequent charterers. Contact us for specific pricing.

Finding Captain & Crew

We maintain a list of independent, licensed captains who are familiar with the Azimut 72S and South Florida waters. These captains are NOT our employees—they work independently, and you hire them directly. We can provide you with contact information for 3-5 qualified captains, and you interview and select the one you prefer. Alternatively, you can hire your own licensed captain, use captain referral services, or post on maritime job boards. The captain must hold a valid U.S. Coast Guard license (minimum OUPV/Six-Pack).

Independent captains for the Azimut 72S typically charge: Day rate: $400-800/day (8-10 hours), Overnight rate: $800-1,200/day for multi-day charters, Plus customary 15-20% gratuity. You negotiate rates and pay the captain directly—not through us.

For day trips with smaller groups (4-6 people), a captain alone is usually sufficient. For larger groups or overnight charters, you may want to hire a mate/deckhand ($200-400/day) and/or a chef/steward ($300-600/day) for a better experience. Your captain can advise you based on your specific plans.

We can provide you with a list of qualified, independent captains who know our vessel, but we cannot dictate who you must hire—that would violate bareboat charter regulations. You must have complete freedom to select your captain and crew. We simply provide referrals to make your search easier.

Your Responsibilities

As the bareboat charterer, you're responsible for: selecting, hiring, and paying captain and crew; providing all fuel, food, and provisions; obtaining your own charterer's insurance; safe navigation and operation (through your captain); returning the vessel on time and in good condition; paying for any damage beyond normal wear and tear; ensuring no more than 12 total persons are aboard; following all maritime laws and regulations.

You personally don't need to be an expert boater—that's why you hire a licensed captain. However, you must be capable of: understanding basic vessel operations, communicating effectively with your captain, making reasonable decisions about voyage planning, and responding appropriately in emergencies. We'll provide you with a thorough vessel orientation before departure.

Yes! You must obtain charterer's liability insurance (minimum $1,000,000) that covers: your liability as the operator, your captain and crew, all guests aboard, and personal injury and property damage. We maintain hull insurance on the vessel, but that protects us (the owner), not you. Your insurance protects you from liability. We can refer you to marine insurance providers who specialize in bareboat charter coverage.

Vessel Specifics

Maximum capacity: 12 persons total (including you, your guests, captain, and any crew). This is a U.S. Coast Guard regulation that applies to all bareboat charters. Exceeding 12 people is a serious federal violation with penalties exceeding $60,000. Sleeping capacity: 6-8 guests comfortably (3 staterooms).

The Azimut 72S comes fully equipped with: complete galley (kitchen) with appliances, air conditioning and heating, entertainment system (TV, sound system), navigation and safety equipment, tender/dinghy with outboard motor, water sports equipment, linens and towels, and all required U.S. Coast Guard safety equipment.

Pets are allowed with prior approval and a $250 pet cleaning fee. You're responsible for any damage caused by your pet.

Operations & Restrictions

You're restricted to coastal and inland waters of Florida within the vessel's insurance limits. Typical cruising areas include: Biscayne Bay, Miami to Key West, Florida Keys, Atlantic coast (conditions permitting), and Gulf coast Florida (with advance notice). You may NOT take the vessel to the Bahamas without special permission and insurance, into rough weather (captain's discretion), or outside Florida waters.

Your captain has final authority over whether it's safe to depart. If weather makes the voyage unsafe (hurricanes, tropical storms, hazardous seas), you can: postpone to another mutually agreed date within 12 months, or cancel for full refund if no alternative date works. Minor rain or overcast skies don't qualify for weather cancellation—only genuine safety concerns.

Yes, recreational fishing is allowed with appropriate Florida fishing licenses. However, you may NOT fish commercially, sell your catch, or exceed recreational limits. Your captain can advise on good fishing spots.

Absolutely! Many of our charterers book multi-day trips and sleep aboard. The Azimut 72S has comfortable sleeping accommodations for 6-8 guests.

Booking & Policies

We recommend booking at least 2-4 weeks in advance, especially for weekends, holidays, and winter season (December-April). Peak season books up months in advance.

60+ days before: Full refund minus $500 admin fee. 31-60 days before: 50% refund. 8-30 days before: 25% refund. 7 days or less: No refund. Weather cancellations (captain-determined safety issues) get full refunds or rescheduling.

Photo ID, proof of charterer's insurance, contact information for your hired captain, food and beverages for your group, sunscreen, hats, sunglasses, bathing suits and towels (we provide some), any special equipment you want (snorkel gear, etc.), and cash for captain/crew gratuity.

Yes, alcohol is permitted for guests. However: the captain and crew must remain sober, no one may operate the vessel under the influence, excessive intoxication creating safety issues may result in early termination, and you're responsible for all alcohol and must provide it.
